Many individuals in the entertainment industry, particularly the music business, are searching for an attorney “agent” to “shop” or promote their music to record companies. While we do represent artists in negotiations with record companies we do not engage in any promotional “shopping” services for unrepresented artists. If a record company is interested in an artist’s or group’s work they will require that an attorney contact them to discuss possible negotiations and at this stage our law firm can be of great benefit to you. Sending recordings to a record company “over the transom” by an attorney or law firm does not, in itself, guarantee that your work will be reviewed by anyone except the mail room employees who actually receive the package. If you have been in contact with a record company and a specific person asks to have your lawyer send them a demo recording, this is an indication that the person is interested in your work and may possibly get others in that record company interested too. At that stage we can represent you in your negotiations with the record company.
